“Nihonjin” is the original version of the title track off Far East Family Band’s Nipponjin. The original is exactly the same, except without any Mellotron or synthesizers. The original proved how effective it was without the electronics, so the version off Nipponjin – Join Out Mental Phase Sound with the added-on electronics and Mellotron was simply icing on the cake.

Apparently Far East Family Band wanted to do what PFM did and that was to record a (largely) English language version of an album they already did, in this case The Cave: Down to the Earth, which was their debut. The LP to Nipponjin came with an insert showing all the musicians and their equipment (apparently taken from The Cave: Down to the /5(9).

Far East Family Band's"Nipponjin" is one fantastic Japanese progressive rock album. There is some fantastic, mystical, ethereal, mind blowing guitar work by Fumio Miyashita and Hirohito Fukushima with some decent keyboards by Akiro Ita and Masanori Takahashion this recording.
