    To say that Exciter more than rivals Violator is an understatement and it's crammed full with 'greatest hits' as well as some excellent album tracks. Take for instance the opening Dream On which is as rhythmic and addictive as anything Depeche Mode have written. Combine this sort of song with slower 'ballad' style tracks like When The Body Speaks are you have a sure fire winner/5(1).

    Nov 14,  · On first hearing Exciter upon its release back in , I thought Depeche Mode had totally lost the plot. The atmospherics, the dramatics and the energy of the younger Depeche Mode was nowhere to be found and I what once knew as the sound of Depeche Mode had been replaced by quirky blips, twisted synths and severely tightened and dried out minimalistic beats that were so slow paced /5().
