    Feb 07,  · Hmm. There are some good ones here. There are at least two different roads that Metheny has traveled. One is with the Pat Metheny Group, and the other is the guitarist by himself or with others, usually in an acoustic jazz setting (with some important exceptions). My favorite Pat Metheny Group album by far is TRAVELS.

    Like the Pat Metheny Group records also released on Geffen, Secret Story sounds absolutely fantastic, whether in digital or on the very rare and expensive vinyl edition. It has a typically pre-grunge late ‘80s/early ‘90s sound with quite a bit of reverb, but the reverb is kept well in hand and never allowed to engulf the instrumentation.

    metheny has done a lot of work over the years with various influences (most of it very good), but this '78 debut album of PMG still stands out as one of the greatest lighter instrumental fusion albums of all time! lyle, of course, was always a great influence, and i always miss him in any metheny work that lacks his presence. his keyboard prowess and jazzy piano solos on this album definitely /5().
