    While "Time: Donut Of The Heart" is my favorite song, this track might be the best one, because it showcases Dilla's technicality and the crazy ear for sample chops he had. The track is compeletely built off of a sample from a song "I Can't Stand (To See You Cry)" by The Escorts.

    J Dilla didn't quite make the game but he certainly made a huge impact on it. Donuts comes out as one of, if not the, premier instrumental hip hop album in history. It exhibits just how essential the tonality and vibe-setting is to hip hop, and how beats and samples can stand alone as something that can make the ground shake beneath them.
