"The Long and Winding Road," along with "Let It Be," was one of two outstanding ballads that Paul McCartney contributed to the Let It Be album. And, like "Let It Be," it would be a number one single, although by the time it reached number one the Beatles would no longer exist, in part because of "The Long and Winding Road" itself.

The album was finished a year ago, but a few months ago American record producer Phil Spector was called in by John Lennon to tidy up some of the tracks. But a few weeks ago, I was send a re-mixed version of my song ‘The Long And Winding Road’, with harps, horns, an orchestra and women’s choir added. No one had asked me what I thought.

Aug 17,  · Note that B7 "Hey Jude" is just an instrumental outro, Sarah does not sing on this one. Otherwise a very interesting album with orchestrations very often far from the original songs, which is exactly the purpose I was looking for that record. And the voice of Sarah Vaughan, goosebumps /5(27).
